Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking Full-Time, Part-time or Relief Small Animal Emergency Doctors to add to our rapidly growing emergency and specialty hospital in Austin, TX. 

Who we are looking for

We are interested in speaking with experienced ER DVMs or internship-trained DVMs who are self-motivated, with excellent multi-tasking skills, and can contribute to our high standard of patient care, client service, and comprehensive communication. The eligible applicant should lead by example and maintain a professional demeanor and contribute positively to the AVES culture. 

The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to grow professionally with the hospital and sustain strong relationships with referring colleagues, clients, and support staff. This is a unique opportunity to work in a team of top-notch emergency doctors and specialists in a rapidly growing emergency and specialty practice.

Our amazing team

Our robust Emergency and Critical Care department provides 24/7 care from our experienced emergency doctors, with six days per week coverage by boarded Criticalists. For ER DVMs who enjoy cutting, we offer additional surgical training and opportunity to cut soft tissue emergency surgeries. And for those who prefer not to cut, we have an excellent surgery team!

In addition to our strong ECC department, we have in-house specialty services in Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, and Cardiology (provided by CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets). In the fall we will be welcoming a new Internist with IR fellowship training, as well as an additional Neurologist with a strong focus on neurosurgery.

AVES is committed to advancing medicine and education! We have a strong ER DVM mentorship program, as well as a tiered technician training program, and a strong CE stipend for all of our doctors. We have daily morning rounds, provide feedback in real time, and offer growth opportunities for our team members.

AVES was established in 2014 and has had exponential growth since its establishment. AVES is locally managed by one of the original founders, Lindsay Vaughn, DVM, DACVECC and joined the NVA- Compassion First Network in 2021 to accelerate their growth and network with other best-in-class specialty and emergency hospitals. Our facility offers ultrasound, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, x-ray, and high-flow nasal oxygen, allowing us to truly give the gold standard of medical care to our patients. In 2025, AVES will be moving to a new state of the art facility that is approximately 45,000 square feet, and numerous additional services will be added to our hospital. We are very excited to continue to grow our hospital with you!
