Companion Animal Hospital Round Lake in Round Lake, Illinois is hiring a full-time Veterinarian to join our team! Our medical director, Dr. Shannon Kofoed, is interested in expanding our services to offer urgent care, as well as extending our hours until 10 pm. Several of the emergency clinics in the area have had to close on certain days or have limited hours, so there is a huge need in our community for urgent care services. We are looking for a veterinarian to help with the day shifts of the general practice (8 am to 5 pm) or for a veterinarian with an interest in urgent care. New grads with an interest in urgent care are welcome to apply!

 About our clinic: Companion Animal Hospital Round Lake is a full-service, Fear Free Certified small animal general practice offering the best in medical and surgical care. We just fully remodeled our practice in May of 2021. We predominantly treat dogs and cats, but Dr. Kofoed also treats a wide variety of species, including everything from pocket pets to birds to goats and sheep. It is not a requirement to treat any species other than dogs and cats if that is not any area of interest for you.

Our diagnostic equipment includes an in-house lab (CBC, chemistry, SediVue), digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and brand-new ultrasound. Dr. Kofoed has a passion for ultrasound and just completed an ultrasound CE last month. We use eVet for our electronic medical records, which is a Cloud based software. Two of our six exam rooms are reserved for cats only and we have separate dog and cat areas within the hospital. We also have a designated isolation area.

Our doctors perform a variety of routine, advanced, and emergency soft tissue surgeries and dentistry. All our patients undergoing anesthesia receive an IV catheter, IV fluids, and are carefully monitored and recovered by our skilled technicians. We currently perform surgeries Tuesday through Friday and any interested candidate would have their own surgery day, allowing us to offer surgery five days per week.     

Most importantly, we have phenomenal, experienced support staff who are crucial to the success of patient and client care. We currently have a 4:1 technician to doctor ratio! Every doctor is well-supported by technicians and assistants in appointments and in surgery.

Our practice is open Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm and Saturday, 8 am to 1 pm. Ideally, we are looking for someone to work a 4-day work week, with alternating Saturdays. There are no on-call responsibilities. You can learn more about our amazing practice at companionrl.com.
