About Duke Animal Clinic, L.L.C.
The Duke Animal Clinic at 1962 Schillinger Rd. S. has been established in the western suburbs of Mobile, Alabama for 42 years. Our goal is to provide consistent, high quality veterinary health care to the community. Currently, the staff consists of two full time veterinarians, one part-time veterinarian, a veterinary ophthalmologist and a veterinary dentist. The support personnel includes two licensed veterinary technicians and three skilled assistants. We participate with a local community college in their veterinary technology program and have at least one student each semester.
Our practice has an interesting variety of cases and is an excellent place to develop your practice skills with mentors that are motivated to help you learn. Not only does the ophthalmology, dentistry and equine emphasis in our practice provide a unique experience, but our work with local rescue groups insure an interesting case load. Most recently, we have added oysters to our species list. A local hatchery, three oyster nurseries and some oyster farms have needed our help with health certificates, disease testing and certifications. Maybe bees will be next?
The clinic is located... in the pine covered ridges of Mobile County and is 200 feet above sea level. 35 miles to the south is Dauphin Island, a populated barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico. The City center and Mobile Bay are 12 - 15 miles to the East. The Mobile River delta is one of the largest deltas in the United States and is very popular with kayakers, fishermen and boaters. It is about 1.5 hours to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Florida beaches are about 2 hours away.
Within 20 miles of the clinic are two 4 year universities and a Jesuit College. The University of South Alabama boasts a Colleges of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, Allied Health Professions, and Nursing. Cultural opportunities abound. The Mobile Symphony, The Mobile Pops Band, The Mobile Opera and the Mobile Ballet perform on a regular basis. Blues, soul, jazz and bluegrass events can be enjoyed at multiple venues weekly. International and seafood festivals are regular affairs. Then, there is Mardi Gras and even a mullet toss!
Mobile has excellent schools...... public, private and parochial. A wonderful placed to raise a family.
All of this as we endeavor to serve the needs of our patients and their owners while maintaining a balance in our personal lives.......and having fun. Our Chamber of Commerce once used the phrase, "The climate is ideal for progress in Mobile". I will also add that the cost of living is very attractive.
