Whether you are searching for a savvy, nurturing mentor to get your veterinary career off on the right foot or you’ve been at it for a while and desperately need some work/life balance, you can find your joy here in the peaceful Texas hill country! Convenient to both Austin and San Antonio, Four Paws Veterinary Hospital of Wimberley is a semi-rural small animal general practice searching for a full or part-time associate veterinarian.
Four Paws is open Mon-Fri 8-5:30 and Saturday mornings. We offer well, sick, and emergency care with a 30-minute appointment minimum. We utilize both in-house lab equipment and Idexx reference lab, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and therapeutic laser. Our dedicated, stable, and supportive staff work together seamlessly to make Four Paws a drama-free zone. (Amazing, but TRUE – we promise!)
Four Paws is the antithesis of corporate veterinary care. We get to know our patients and clients, then personalize their care and treatment to give these pets their best possible lives and optimize the human-animal bond. We are committed to open and transparent communication to enhance client knowledge, understanding, and satisfaction with services. For a more complete picture of the Four Paws difference, you really should visit our website at fourpawsvethospital.com.
Experience with wellness and vaccine protocols, cytology, diagnostic, and anesthesia procedures including dental, soft tissue and basic orthopedic surgeries needed. Naturally, Dr Schwarzlose (Dr Phillip) will mentor the right recent grad! Still, do please arrive with superior communication and people skills pre-installed!
You will be working in concert with an owner who has 20+ years veterinary experience, so anticipate a collegial atmosphere with plenty of give and take. Sense of humor non-negotiable!
It is projected that our associate vet will work between 36-40 hours over four or five days each week. Annual beginning salary is anticipated to fall between $75-95K, negotiable depending on experience and skill.
When you aren’t saving lives and contributing to the local animal welfare, there is lots to do in the Central Texas area, whether your perfect day off is backpacking a trail, floating a river, or checking out the local culture along the San Antonio Riverwalk or in the “Live Music Capitol of the World” (aka Austin). “Wimberley Market Days” occur monthly and are just as charming and relaxing as they sound – the perfect place to sample a local brew and visit with the neighbors.
Here’s the bottom line: If making a tricky diagnosis gives you a thrill, if you contend that veterinary medicine is about the relationships as much as the medicine, if you want to enjoy your life beyond the parking lot of the clinic, Four Paws Veterinary Hospital may just be your Shangri-La!
Additional Salary Information: vacation and benefits negotiable
