Our award-winning practice, McKean Veterinary Hospital, is looking for an ambitious veterinarian eager to practice high quality general veterinary care and join the MVH family. Founded in 1998, McKean Veterinary Hospital is a privately-owned full-service companion animal hospital located in a beautiful state-of-the-art building designed by a nationally recognized firm. Our facility is situated on 8 acres on the shores of Lake Erie in McKean, Pennsylvania. Our location is also a little over an hour away from big cities like Cleveland, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. It’s the perfect balance between quiet living and urban life.
We have a very committed mentoring program for new associates and offer a very competitive compensation and benefits package. We encourage new graduates as well as experienced veterinarians to apply. New and less experienced veterinary graduates are supported with initial salary guarantees in the early stages of practice building. The typical salary in the first year is 80,000 to 90,000 in addition to full health benefits, continuing education, subscriptions, dues, and a retirement account. Our associates are respected and treated as professionals and are encouraged to collaborate on cases and management decision making.
Support staff is highly trained and motivated. We strive to create a positive work environment so that our associates and technicians can practice effectively and develop both personally and professionally. We keep our work week reasonable and encourage a healthy work/life balance by referring after-hours and weekend emergencies to the local emergency hospital.
We require a strong work ethic and a desire to practice high quality veterinary medicine and surgery. Good communication skills, and a compassionate approach to helping clients and their pets is essential. Good leadership skills are very helpful as well as an ability to work with team members effectively. Surgical practice is not required, but preferred.
