Dawson County Humane Society is a non-profit organization and a no kill shelter with the mission of providing shelter and basic care to the county’s homeless pets. DCHS is looking for a PRN/Relief Veterinarian for one day per week commitment (Monday-Thursday preferred).
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
Licensure in good standing in the state of Georgia
Eligibility for DEA licensure
The ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members, the board’s medical director, and other local veterinarians who help our shelter
Proficiency in surgery is a plus. Basic surgical procedures including spay, neuter, wound care, dental extractions, etc.
Advisement and management of infectious disease cases
Routine vaccinations and combo/heartworm testing
Rare euthanasia when indicated for medical reasons or extreme aggression/behavior issues. Must also be approved by Executive Director
