Emory University's School of Medicine: Division of Animal Resources (DAR) is seeking a Veterinary Technician II  to join their Managed Breeding Services (MBS) team!

The Vet Tech II will, under direct supervision, assist veterinarians and researchers to fulfill responsibilities, as follows.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Provide pairing, weaning, genotyping, maintenance, and transport of colony-managed animals.

• Perform animal procedures such as biopsies, sample collection, and treatment administration to colony animals.

• Participate in the weekend and holiday on-call rotation schedule with DAR treatment/triage veterinary staff.

• Conduct animal care/husbandry for breeding mice.

• Database entry for colony-managed animals and other duties as needed. 

• Coursework, training, or strong interest in genetics is highly recommended. 

• Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take special precautions against and/or be immunized against hazardous agents.

• Under general supervision, assists the veterinarians and researchers in surgery and radiology, animal care, treatments, and diagnostic and preventative procedures.

• Maintain medical records and inventory.

• Provide non-surgical technical assistance to researchers as directed.
