The Veterinary Regional Medical Director is responsible for veterinary outreach and establishing, managing and growing an account base of key veterinary partnerships as part of a new market penetration strategy. The Medical Director’s goal is to position our brand as veterinarians’ “first and best” recommendation. The candidate must be outgoing, personable and relationship driven; performance will be evaluated on the basis of setting up key partnerships, developing veterinary relationships, and driving veterinary recommendations to our various locations. The candidate must be self-motivated, flexible and versatile in a dynamic start-up environment. This is primarily a field position with a significant travel requirement.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION The primary focus of the Veterinary RMD will be securing Pantry Partnership with key veterinary teams in specific designated markets. The VeterinaryRMD will be accountable for meeting market penetration goals in new markets and for developing veterinary relationships in maturing markets. Veterinary RMDs are responsible for veterinary outreach, follow up, organizing lunch and learns, and doctor dinners in their regions. The goal at these presentations is to educate teams on our brand and services, secure veterinary ‘buy in’ to JFFD’s products and services, and ultimately set up Pantry Partnerships. Support staff will be provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES • Educate teams on whole food nutrition and on how a JFFD Pantry can transform case outcomes, upgrade their standard of practice, build and differentiate their practice, and provide marginal profit increase. • With executive management input, establish a select number of Pantry Partnerships in designated markets as part of our market penetration strategy. A typical market with a JFFD kitchen can support 10 veterinary pantries. • Position our brand as clinics’ “first and best” recommendation, and drive traffic to locations where JFFD is sold. • Lead a team of support staff to help support veterinary relationships in established, maturing markets. • Leverage JFFD marketing support and staff to drive product expertise and improve sales and market share clinics. • Promote and merchandise JFFD products and services through veterinary conferences, events, and possible public relations opportunities. • Educate veterinary staff through in-clinic lunch seminars or doctor dinners on the superior value proposition of JFFD diets and services. • Help propel the JFFD mission to pets' living longer, happier lives by driving endorsement of our products in veterinary clinics. • Supervise rollout of new product launches and education to clinic staff leading to optimal positioning in the clinic. • Prospect, organize, and attend local and regional veterinary specific events/conferences with the ultimate goal of raising brand awareness among vets in corresponding markets. • Supervise the organization of any relevant event, seeking appropriate resources and materials, and follow up with outreach afterwards. • Establish, promote, and deliver excellent B2B service. • Maintain a very high level of product and company knowledge so as to become the “go to” person for all veterinarians, staff and customers. • Join in on weekly meetings at HQ (can be remote) and organize any other relevant meetings. Meetings are typically held on Mondays. • Maintain communication with the appropriate parties regarding any issues as they arise (inventory/supply concerns, tech problems, accounts receivable, etc.) • Foster a favorable working environment, and help develop and maintain long-term employee relationships and loyalty.
Experience: • Sales Leadership experience preferred. • Nutrition consulting (or JFFD consulting) experience preferred. • Veterinary or animal industry related experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Must be comfortable with a busy travel schedule which will include flying and driving, often times to different locations in the same week. • A genuine love for dogs and the desire to further the JFFD mission. • Must have a history of excellent sales or retail management skills with proven results. • Must have exceptional computer, organizational and planning skills. • Must have the ability to create and set high standards and enforce them. • Strong communication skills and leadership qualities. • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds. • Able to apply effective time management and self-management skills. • Able to perform additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by HQ at any time. • Proactive – with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
WORKING CONDITIONS • 30% of time standing, 10% sitting, 60% traveling/driving. • Direct contact with veterinarians, vet staff, customers, dogs, and employees. • Dynamic, changing environment – JFFD is a young, growing company and a place of change. Change must be embraced professionally.
