Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals - Navasota is looking to immediately add an experienced, versatile practitioner with strengths and interest in sports medicine and general practice.
Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals—Navasota is a primary and referral hospital located 60 miles north of Houston, Texas. The practice features a full surgery suite, 2 recovery/induction stalls, a climate controlled ICU and facilities to hospitalize 70+ patients supported by board-certified specialists in Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. We also support an out-patient sports medicine facility in North Houston.
Originally built in 1987 with the latest addition completed in 2019, BVEH-Navasota provides full services including an on-site pharmacy, internal fixation equipment, laparoscopy equipment, diode laser, standing and dynamic endoscopy, regenerative medicine equipment, and on-site laboratory. BVEH – Navasota is one of three hospitals in Brazos Valley Veterinary Hospitals encompassing 17 veterinarians and multiple specialists.
The work environment is fast-paced, friendly, and focused on positive patient and client outcomes. We are looking for a person to fit our collaborative culture and develop a long-term relationship.
Located just outside of Texas A&M, Navasota is typical small town one hour from Houston and two hours from Austin. The Brazos Valley is a suburban setting, featuring a large population of horse owners and small farms, scattered across a variety of small towns.
Provide clinical expertise in the areas of lameness, sports medicine and therapeutics, imaging, and regenerative medicine.
Develop a relationship with the existing client base and growing the patient caseload.
Participate in rotating emergency call for both hospital referrals and local clients.
Provide routine primary care to haul-in clients and ambulatory calls to local facilities.
Provide consultation to clients, industry, and private veterinarians.
Assist in the training and mentoring of hospital interns and staff.
Participate in daily case rounds and monthly journal clubs.
Provide continuing education presentations and publications for veterinarians, veterinary students, and clients.
Occasional travel to racetracks, horse shows, and referring veterinary clinics to build rapport and establish relationships with clientele and referring veterinarians.
Participate in regional and national equine and veterinary organizations
Any candidate must be excited to work in a collaborative environment and share cases. Strong communication skills with the staff and clients are imperative, as well as, the ability to multi-task. They need to be passionate about veterinary medicine and have a strong desire to continually improve their knowledge and skills. Not all cases will be lameness and all veterinarians are expected to work on all types of cases.
The ideal candidate should have practice experience in sports medicine and patient management.
