The Oktibbeha County Humane Society (OCHS) in Starkville, MS is a non-profit organization that operates the Starkville Animal Shelter and runs a mobile, low-cost spay/neuter clinic. We are looking for a part-time/full-time veterinarian who is an upbeat, self-motivated team-player and passionate about spay/neuter and shelter animal welfare. The veterinarian will perform a full range of veterinary duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Guides the medical and surgical protocols/decisions for shelter animals and spay/neuter clinic clients.
Provides quality spay/neuter surgeries for owned pets, shelter animals, and community/feral cats several days a week.
Performs health examinations for shelter animals.
Ensures disease prevention through rapid diagnosis and treatment.
Ensures appropriate medication/treatment is administered by shelter staff as directed.
Performs euthanasia in accordance with AVMA guidelines.
Serves on call for emergency medical situations for shelter animals.
Qualifications and Skills:
A DVM degree from an accredited school of veterinary medicine.
A license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Mississippi (or the ability to obtain one).
DEA license eligibility is required.
High quality/high-volume spay/neuter, and shelter medicine experience is preferred.
