Fun and busy vet practice in Pennsylvania (with 2 awesome hospital cats and many Fear Free certified team members) is looking for a rockstar veterinarian to join us on our adventure!
Do you like people (including clients – because they come with the job), diagnosing vomiting dogs, treating grumpy cats, and helping grey-muzzled pets? We know it’s a lot to ask, but we really want to find that one perfect person to fit our brand of crazy.
Are you ready to learn new things and be challenged to stretch and grow (but NOT break) as a veterinarian and a human?
Are you a new or recent grad who’s in search of a real mentorship program (as opposed to empty promises)?
If so, then read on, we may have the role for you.
About Brodheadsville Veterinary Clinic
Drs. Phil Zeltzman and Jeremy Wentz purchased Brodheadsville Veterinary Clinic five years ago and transformed the entire practice. They completely gutted the first floor of the clinic to double the surface area and optimize workflow. They added 2 more exam rooms, a dedicated purple dental suite and a large teal surgery room. We are growing at a rapid pace and need to add another Doctor to keep up with the demand and maintain the quality of the client experience.
We have done this by focusing on looking after our clients, each other, and patients. We’re a tight-knit team. So we’re looking for an associate who loves people and pets (we know the pet part is easy). We want someone who has the basics down, who enjoys laughing with us, educating clients, and is ready to learn and help others learn too.
We’re not looking for someone who will work themselves into the ground, because we care about each other as much as we care about pets and clients. Profit matters, but it’s not the most important thing to us. Our people come first, then pets, then clients. If we get this stuff right, then we know that money will look after itself.
So what can you expect from us?
We hold ourselves (and each other) to high standards of care. So, for example, every anesthetized patient gets an IV catheter, IV fluids, mandatory pain control, and we use the best drugs available. We use up to date monitors with BP & CO2, we use heating air warmers, and we train and retrain our teammates.
This is the way we approach our work, and we’re a long way from getting it perfect every day. But we try, and many days we get close (which makes us happy - because safe, happy, healthy pets are why we get out of bed).
We want humble teammates who can join our team and have fun. We’re all learning, growing and moving forward. And we want to work with people who push us to get better, who call us out when we might be wrong, who gently steer us back in the right direction.
We’re a fairly small practice, but we want to offer the very best we can. So we have a package that includes a competitive salary with pro-sal, CE allowance, paid dues and memberships, paid time off, health insurance contribution, 401k match, pet care discounts and scrub allowance.
We offer a mentorship position (if needed) rather than just a job. This is not an empty promise to get you in the door (we wouldn’t know, but apparently this has happened “elsewhere”). This is a real mentorship, both on the clinical and the management side.
We need you full time and we are open on Saturdays. We currently see appointments and perform surgeries Monday through Friday.
What we want from you…
We are looking first and foremost for someone who can fit our team culture. We need you to have a great way of making clients feel comfortable and welcome in our clinic. You need to have confidence in your own abilities.
There are a few other things we need:
We want you to be our patients’ advocate.
We want you to WOW clients.
We want you to be willing to learn and grow.
We want you to help teammates learn and grow.
We want you to be willing to be amazing.
We want you to embrace our core values: passion, compassion, progression.
We want you to leave your outside issues at the door.
We want to laugh and cry with you at the stuff we have to deal with.
We want to be able to have a beer, or drink of preference, with you.
We want you to understand that the owners of this practice care very deeply about helping you get where you want to go and helping you become the best you can be.
We want you to accept that you are not perfect, that none of us is and that's okay.
We want you to be happy.
If you can do that, we'd be very, very proud to call you a teammate.
(And if you can be that, or be willing to work towards it.... could you also never leave?)
Thanks for reading.
