Hicks Animal Clinic is a small animal practice that manages both complicated medical cases and performs a wide range of soft tissue surgeries. We have nearly doubled in annual production since 2016 and have maintained a statistically top 5% vet clinic in national production for the past 6 years.  We are seeking a new associate to join our busy 3 doctor practice. 

We are associated with an emergency clinic, so no on-calls, your nights are yours. We try to balance life and work by rotating weekends and having half day Fridays.  Additionally, we are closed every fourth Saturday of the month for “life” reasons. We pride ourselves on down-to-earth client communication and thorough patient care. We have very little employee turnover and treat our team as family members. However, we work very hard and don’t mind being busy. Our new associate will need to be self-motivated and ambitious.  If it wasn’t for our wonderful clientele then it would be difficult to maintain our 8 years in a row best vet in Rocky Mount streak.  We have also received small business of the month of August in 2017 and were featured in Abaxis International magazine for our high compliance with preventative blood testing.  We will soon become an integrated clinic.  Dr. Michael and Dr. Michele will be finishing their herbal and acupuncture certifications, respectively, later this year.  We implement “Larry the laser”, our class 4 therapeutic laser routinely and have a room dedicated to our future integrative medicine.  In late 2016, we updated our diagnostic equipment including: Abaxis VS2 and HM5, Mindray U/S, digital radiology, class 4 laser, anesthetic monitoring, tonopen, and a couple others. In late 2018, we completed major construction and renovations to our building including: new breakroom (full kitchen, sofa, dining set, tv/firestick), enlarged reception and waiting room with new cabinetry and seating, new vet office, new fourth exam room, and new medical grade flooring.

We plan to support our future associate with quality pay and generous additional benefits. Future buy-in options can be considered.

As for our community, Rocky Mount is a steadily growing town of about 62,500. It is in a great location, with Raleigh 45 minutes west, Greenville 45 minutes east, and more beaches than you can count within 2-3 hours’ drive eastward.  The historic Rocky Mount Mills features multiple restaurants, 8+ breweries, a coffee shop, and routinely offers live music and events.  It is located along the Tar River and is connected to the 3-mile greenway which runs along the river and features multiple parks with basketball courts, baseball fields, volleyball courts, picnic areas, and playgrounds.  We have the largest dog park in the state located beside the greenway. Downtown is being renovated at an alarming rate, with multiple new restaurants, yoga studio, art center, retails stores and coffee shops opening within the past 16 months. The sports complex is one of the ten largest in the country and has being expanded to include an event center for basketball and volleyball, as well as concerts and other public events.  The city’s animal shelter recently got a new facility that is much more spacious to allow for more animals.  There is a reservoir just outside of town for fishing and boating activities.  We have 3 golf courses and half a dozen disc golf courses.

Rocky Mount is a great place to live and raise a family. Homes and land are very affordable.  The Rocky Mount High School is one of the greenest schools in the state.  As for safety, the crime rate is the lowest we have seen in the past 40 years.  For those that don’t want to drive for travel, we have a nationally recognized historic train station that is on the main Amtrak route which runs from Maine to Miami.

There are many investment opportunities here. An eager veterinarian would have a difficult time passing on this possibility, both with Hicks Animal Clinic and the city of Rocky Mount.  If you are interested, don’t hesitate to contact us regarding the position.
