Faculty Position in Public and Corporate Veterinary Medicine
Tenure/Tenure Track Faculty, 12-Month Appointment

The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (VMCVM) at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, invites applications from qualified individuals for a 12-month tenure/tenure-track faculty position in public and corporate veterinary medicine at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The candidate must possess a DVM or equivalent degree. In addition, a graduate degree (MS, MPH or PhD) or certification by an AVMA-approved veterinary specialty organization is required. Candidates with experience in epidemiology and prevention of diseases of economic and public health importance are preferred. The position is committed primarily to advancing the public and corporate veterinary medicine program of the College of Veterinary Medicine, with an emphasis on supporting the poultry industry. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.
DVM or equivalent degree is required, in addition to a graduate degree (MS, MPH or PhD) or board certification. Experience in preventive medicine, production medicine, or public health is preferred.
The candidate will collaborate with faculty colleagues in the Center for Public and Corporate Veterinary Medicine to prepare veterinary
medical graduates for careers that do not involve private clinical practice. The close proximity of the College Park campus to Washington DC provides excellent opportunities for collaboration with federal agencies, corporate entities and foundations to establish experiential learning opportunities for students. In addition to possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, the candidate is expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the VMCVM by participating in both the professional DVM curriculum as well as in graduate student education. Outreach activities will focus on the poultry industry and involve working with extension poultry veterinarians to promote animal and public health. The candidate must develop a robust applied research program and associated body of published scholarship that addresses the needs of the poultry industry. Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding necessary to sustain an active research program will be necessary to achieve tenure.
