Volusia Veterinary Services is seeking an incredibly motivated, self-starting and flexible individual to become part of our veterinary family. We have a mixed animal practice and are looking for a full or part time associate veterinarian.The mission of our practice is to provide our clients with compassionate, well-rounded veterinary care at an affordable price.
Our services include full-service mobile veterinary visits and house calls - as well as office appointments at our animal clinic in historic Downtown DeLand. Our well equipped clinic includes: Two exam rooms (as well as a “large dog” area), surgical suite, dental room, recovery room and x-ray area. We have two digital x-ray machines (one wireless), ultrasound, endoscopy, Tono pen, cryo, Abaxis in-house blood machines, and power floats. Although the equipment is state of the art we do our best to keep a small town, honest atmosphere.
We are open Mon, Wed, Fri 8-5pm; Tues 9-5pm, Thurs 9-6pm and every third Sat 8:30-2pm. We do not see small animal after hour emergencies, but do provide 24 hour, 7 day a week coverage for current large animal clients. A typical full time doctor schedule would be Mon-Fri and rotate Sat mornings, as well as share on-call time. We encourage you to bring your hobbies and special interests such as orthopedics, acupuncture, etc to our repertoire! Doctor’s schedules are set with opportunities to be flexible if necessary to accommodate personal needs, continuing education opportunities and time for enjoying personal hobbies and activities. We feel that everyone here is family and do our best to ensure that there is time for their families!
We have an amazing team of well-trained technicians and our practice is 56% large animal (including; equine, bovine, caprine, ovine, porcine) and 44% small/companion animals. Our days are never boring! We are routinely faced with a variety of situations with a host of different species. In a typical day we can see a puppy for vaccinations, a pig for a neuter and do an emergency cesarean for a goat and occasionally see one of our “special” patients too.
Current Florida DVM license
Clinical competency in both large and small animal medicine
Have a patient first attitude
Have the ability to engage clients and staff
Must take the time with the client to ensure their expectations are met
Must have a friendly outgoing personality
Current driver's license with clean driving record
Additional Salary Information: Salary will commensurate with experience. Our benefits include- vacation days, health care stipend, IRA investment, and continuing education opportunities. The compensation package also includes; AVMA or AAEP dues & FVMA dues, PLIT insurance, and DEA license renewal fees. Mobile vehicle will also be provided. Our Doctor will be available for hands-on training and advice daily. Training timelines depend on the experience of the applicant. We want the best for our new associate as well as our patients so our technicians are assigned to work closely with you to help with the any questions or issues that may arise.
