Lake Road Animal Hospital in Horseheads, NY is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join our team. Our practice is growing with the addition of an associate veterinarian in September. We are in need of a full-time LVT with Fear Free certification (or the desire to obtain, Lake Road will fund this education) who has a strong interest in developing a long-term bond with a progressive practice. We are extremely interested in an inspiring candidate who has a desire to expand the role of veterinary technician within the profession. Veterinary technicians are utilized to their full potential at Lake Road Animal Hospital. Strong technical skills (anesthesia, venipuncture, radiology, dentistry, etc.) are required to be successful. In addition, strong communication skills must be possessed as LVTs are strong advocates for patient care and client education. Technicians at Lake Road Animal Hospital routinely work as a liaison between clients and veterinarians.
The ability to work efficiently within Cornerstone is preferred as we are a paperless practice. We have a full suite of Idexx laboratory equipment, digital radiography, ultrasound, and therapy laser. Our boarding kennel is well-staffed and managed, requiring LVTs to handle only situations involving changes to our guests' health.
The position will require availability (with variability) from as early as 7:30 am to as late as 9:00 pm on weekdays. In addition, alternating Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm are required. We share emergency coverage with six area practices. Emergency coverage is required and shared equally among all technicians. Lake Road covers emergencies for our group until 9:00 pm on Wednesdays and every 5th Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Additional compensation is awarded for emergency coverage.
Veterinary technicians at Lake Road Animal Hospital are compensated hourly based upon experience and skill level. In addition, LVTs have an annual CE budget that includes paid time off for attendance at CE. Paid time off (vacation, sick, personal) begins accrual after three months of successful employment. We offer paid holidays, including your birthday! Retirement benefits are available with a 3% match. We offer a pet care benefits program and a uniform allowance.
