Assistant, Associate, Full Professor of Small Animal Primary Care
Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two faculty positions a faculty position in small animal primary care/general practice. These This appointments can be tenure-track or non-tenure-track, depending on the goals of the applicant. These are full-time, clinical positions. The successful candidates will develop the primary care service in the Animal Health Institute. Primary care faculty will also be involved as instructors in the clinical communications component of the DVM curriculum.

More than 6,000 full-time students are enrolled in graduate programs in osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse anesthesia, cardiovascular perfusion, podiatry, optometry, clinical psychology, speech language pathology, and biomedical sciences. Over 500 full-time faculty members and 400 staff members are dedicated to the education and development of our students in an environment that encourages learning, respect for all members of the health care team, service, interdisciplinary scholarly activity, and personal growth. The addition of veterinary medicine on the Glendale campus provides an excellent opportunity to train students following the principles of One Health at Arizona’s only veterinary college. The MWU-CVM has received provisional accreditation from the AVMA Council on Education and anticipates Full Accreditation in 2018. The first class of 100 students matriculated in August 2014.
The Animal Health Institute is comprised of the Companion Animal Clinic, the Equine and Bovine Center, and an anatomical pathology facility. The necropsy facility is currently under construction. It will contain a 5300 sq-ft, full-service necropsy floor, a gross pathology teaching theatre, a fully equipped histopathology, an 800 sq-ft BSL3-capable necropsy suite, and 1200 sq ft of classroom/teaching space. The Companion Animal Clinic, a modern and innovative veterinary hospital for small animals adjacent to the anatomical pathology center, opened in December 2014. The 111,000 sq. ft. building contains state-of-the-art surgical, dental, and intensive care facilities, and is equipped with digital radiography, fluoroscopy, C-arm, 32-slice CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and arthroscopy equipment. A 3.0 Tesla MRI and a 128-slice PET/CT will be housed in the adjacent Institute for Healthcare Innovation, scheduled to break ground in 2016. A full-service rehabilitation facility is available for post-surgical patients. In addition to outstanding clinical facilities and equipment, the Animal Health Institute houses a pharmacy, a large and well-equipped surgery teaching laboratory, simulated examination rooms for clinical communications training using standardized clients/patients, ample conference and small-group meeting rooms, and a large, full-service clinical pathology laboratory. The adjacent Equine and Bovine Center, a large animal teaching facility houses small herds of cattle and horses. This facility contains excellent equipment and tools to teach large animal clinical skills to students, and to provide medical care for the teaching herds.
